Northern Indiana mountain bike races becoming more popular

The Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association is preparing for their second race of the NIMBA Mountain Bike Race Series on Sunday 6/2/13 at TK Lawless Park in Vandalia MI.  John Marquardt, a spokesman for the organization said “We could really use some volunteers to assist us at the race”.

He explained that the NIMBA-BIKE.ORG website has a volunteer link at http://nimba-bike.org/links-3/volunteer/  where people interested in helping can log their information.  Interested people with a question about volunteering can send an email to nimba.bike@gmail.com.

The first race of the season on Mother’s Day at Bendix Woods was a great success according to Marquardt, with a 50% increase in racers over last fall’s race at the same location.  All funds raised at the races are reinvested in trail maintenance and development.  Funds from prior year races were critical in building the trail at Bendix Woods and the new trail they are building at Bonneyville Mills Park in Elkhart County.
