Active Transportation is the means of getting around by human energy, primarily walking and bicycling. According to the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG), this transportation mode promotes healthy people, a healthy environment, a healthy economy and mobility for all. There is growing interest in active transportation, not only in Michiana, but nationwide. With that in mind, MACOG is developing a Regional Active Transportation Connectivity Plan.
MACOG will analyze current networks and identify gaps in order to create a vision for active transportation in the region. They are looking for stakeholders: people who may be affected by increased active transportation. If you are interested in being involved in the planning process, they have asked that you send an email to MACOGDir@MACOG.com, with the subject “Active Transportation Connectivity Plan”.
