Bike-2-Work Week Urban Awareness Ride: June 2nd

On Tuesday, June 2nd, during Bike to Work Week the Bike Michiana Coalition will be hosting an Urban Awareness Bike Ride at 6:00 pm from the South Bend Farmers Market located at 1105 Northside Boulevard. Registration will open at 5:00. Riders will assemble at 5:45 for last minute instructions and the ride will begin at 6:00. For liability purposes all riders must wear helmets and will be required to sign a liability form prior to the ride. Please arrive early.

There will be a choice of three distances, 5 mile family ride at a slow pace (5-8 mph), 15 mile intermediate ride at a moderate pace (12-15 mph) and a 25 mile ride at a faster pace (15-18 mph).

The purpose of the ride is to demonstrate to our community and to our elected officials the need for safe bike routes and to celebrate the growing number of cyclists who are commuters, recreational and family riders. The ride will be highlighting many of the striped bike lanes in South Bend.
An awareness ride is designed for cyclists to ride as a group to demonstrate our purpose and encourage our officials in the Michiana area to continue our collaborative efforts to become a Bicycle Friendly Community.

Our speed will not be a race but will be a safe steady pace. We depend on your riding skill to keep the group together to accomplish this awareness in a team effort.

Encourage your cycling friends and spread the word to make this a HUGE statement of how courteous cyclists can be.

In order to continue our efforts, BMC asks for your support by becoming a member of the Michiana Bike Coalition. Membership applications will be available before and after the ride.
