If you were in charge of setting the goals for the City of South Bend (or any of Michiana’s cities), what bike goals would you hope they’d adopt? Extra points for specificity!
Here’s my list:
- More connectivity between neighborhoods. Right now each subdivision can only be entered from the main roads, so back roads hardly ever lead anywhere. That’s why it’s so difficult to get to or from Granger!
- More “Share the Road” signs. These have been very effective in my experience, so much that Twyckenham is almost as good with signs and no bike lane as with a lane and no signs!
- More vigorous enforcement against reckless driving, speeding, and drunk driving.
What are your thoughts?
