Several years ago, St. Joseph county restored the historic Darden Road bridge, and built a short bike/ped path across it. That was Phase-1.
Now, Phase-2 is underway. The path is being extended to IN-933. This is approximately .8 miles: not very impressive, I know. But, it is in keeping with the modern practice of adding side-paths or sidewalks or bike lanes with new road/street construction.
It will create a bike-way to Christ The King church/elementary school, as well as shopping at North Village Mall and surrounding businesses and restaurants.
Next year, the Riverside Trail should be completed, which will close the gap, giving bikers and runners an off-road route from Angela/Riverside, all the way to Darden/IN-933: a distance of 3.1 miles.
