First Michiana Bike Summit Set for August 7th

The Michiana Bike Coalition (MBC) is calling a Bike Summit of area bike groups and affiliates on Thursday, August 7th, 7-9 a.m. (morning) at the S. Bend Chocolate Cafe.  Organizers have invited 2 representatives each from the following groups :

  • Bicycle Friendly Community Team 
  • Bike Lanes Team  
  • Bike Station Team 
  • Bike to Work Week 2009 Team 
  • Michiana Bike Association 
  • Michiana Bike Safety Committee
  • Northern Indiana Mountain Bike Association (unconfirmed)
  • Granger Paths (unconfirmed)
The Summit will be an introductory meeting to share the collaborative vision of the MBC and identify the key opportunities for working together, including:
     *understanding the specific goals & function of each group; 
     *learning the capabilities of the new BikeMichiana.org  website;    
     *identifying and agreeing upon MBC priorities, including a collaborative mission statement,  
         communication and coordination between groups, a mailing list/database, and fundraising.
